Co-codamol is a pain-relief medication that contains a combination of paracetamol (acetaminophen) and codeine.
What it’s used for:
•To treat mild to moderate pain that has not improved with paracetamol or ibuprofen alone.
•Commonly prescribed for headaches, dental pain, muscle or joint pain, period pain, back pain, and pain after injuries or surgery.
Because it contains codeine (an opioid), it can cause drowsiness and may be addictive if used for long periods, so it’s usually recommended for short-term use only.
